SAFE OFFICIAL NOTICES

A NOTICE TO SAFE MEMBERS

SAFE is calling for a Special Annual General Meeting.  29 JULY, AUCKLAND

SAFE has lodged an application with the Charities Commission. Some changes to the rules were required for the application. At a Special General Meeting in Auckland 24 June, it was agreed to amend the rules to meet these requirements.

A copy of the rules and the amendment are available on the commissions website but can also be emailed on request by emailing SAFE's lawyer at: gretel@fairbrother.net.nz Unfortunately there is one further change that needs to be made.

That is:

amend clause 14 of SAFE's rules to insert the words "charitable under New Zealand law and" after the words "societies whose objects are".

SAFE needs to make this change because one of the criteria that the Commission will consider when assessing SAFE's application is whether SAFE's rules have a clause that states that in the unlikely case of winding up of SAFE any remaining property (after debts and liabilities have been settled) will be given to a purpose or purposes that are charitable under New Zealand Law.

There will be a SGM at 63 Great North Road, Ponsonby in Auckland at 6.45pm on Tuesday, 29 July to make this last change.

Registering with the Charities Commission is vital to ensure SAFE can continue with its valuable work while being able to offer good financial benefits to those making tax-deductable donations. All members welcome.

If you would like a copy of the constitution please email SAFE's lawyer: Gretel Fairbrother, gretel@fairbrother.net.nz
