Rose meets Patches. Rescued for life!
If not for the help of a few caring individuals, Rose and Patches would be two dead horses. Instead, they are now living in
horsey bliss! The email reads: "Today was the start of a new life for Rose and Patches." Bulletin #43 reported on the plight of Rose and SAFE's assistance
in finding her a new home. Patches was another unwanted horse facing the same fate as Rose until the intervention of the same caring people who decided to come to his aid and
suggest he become a lifetime buddy for Rose.
Patches' owners agreed to let him go and he was picked up on Easter Monday. The thoroughbred was in poor condition, needing some TLC and a lot of food. He spent two days
being fed grain, hay and grass. He is a lovely, good-natured horse. According to Vicky, who led the charge to save both horses, Patches and Rose fell in love at first sight.
 Vicky generously purchased
brushes, hoof picks, hoof oil, shampoo and sugar cubes. Her sister brought hay. Another gave a donation of $50 to go towards their upkeep which left the new horse-guardians
Warren and Renee humble. Both horses were bathed, wormed and had their manes and tails tidied. Warren and Renee's property is set at the foot of Mt Somers near
Ashburton with an abundance of rich, green grassy paddocks surrounded by native plants. Warren intends to build Rose and Patches their own shed for the cooler months. Vicky
says "I think it's impossible to meet nicer people!" Vicky says Rose and Patches walked up to say goodbye just before she left them at their new
home. "My birthday is tomorrow and this is the best present I could ever have wished for. To see two beautiful horses who have spent their life trying to please humans end
up in such a wonderful home -this is a dream come true." |
