SAVE THE HENS 2011 COLOURING COMPETITION - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!Five deserving winners have been selected from amongst the one hundred and fifty entries for SAFE's Save the Hens colouring competition. Thanks to everyone who submitted. The competition encouraged young New Zealanders to think about why our country ought to go Cage Egg Free by depicting a gorgeous picture of hens free in a natural setting. The competition was open to 4 to 12 year-old around New Zealand.
SAFE's promotions manager Amanda Sorrenson said "Entries in this year's competition were so skillful and delightful. Some kids created clever and humorous innovations, such as characterising hens as All Blacks, or punching the image up into 3D! Others were just outstanding with colour and technique." "The competition was no easy feat to judge there were so many fabulous entries to compare. Congratulations to winners and thanks to all who entered around the country." Thank you also to sponsors of this year's competition; Ecobags, Eco Tanka, Rubbish-Free, Sweet William, Toyco who contributed.

KIDS LOVE PIGS 2010 COLOURING COMPETITION - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

Four lucky winners were chosen from over one hundred entries for SAFE's LovePigs colouring competition. The competition was aimed at promoting a respect for pigs and highlighting SAFE's LovePigs campaign. The national competition was open to 4 to 12 year old. SAFE's promotions manager Amanda Sorrenson said it was a difficult competition to judge.
"We agonised over the entries for a long time. There were many very gorgeous contributions. Special category winner Kellee Candy from Waikanae ventured into the third dimension with her entry; creating tactile clouds, spongy trees and goggly eyes on her pigs," says Amanda. "Michael was very skilled at water colour, while Marshell employed beautiful technique and colour with felt tips. And five-year-old, Alex, was cheeky and confident with his pig pic!"

The category winners are:
4-6 years Alex Parsons-Nield, Auckland (age 5)
7-9 years Michael Namu, Auckland 10-12 years Marshell, Mangakino Special Award for innovation Kellee Candy, Waikanae. Thanks to all the children around the country who entered and congratulations to our winners who will be receiving their prize packs in the mail shortly.
