SAFE news
New Zealand depends on its good reputation for high animal welfare. Unfortunately this reputation is completely groundless, as in reality there are huge problems - holes in the regulatory system, little enforcement, and a serious lack of funding for animals.

As part of the upcoming review of the Animal Welfare Act, SAFE is demanding the establishment of an independent Commissioner for Animals. The review will be opened for public submissions in the next few days, and with your support SAFE can push for effective change! Look out for your chance to take part and help New Zealand truly become a world leader in animal welfare.

We also have a major new campaign launching very soon, watch this space!
