SAFE SUPPORTER BULLETIN
CAMPAIGNS X EVENTS X NEWS X ACTIONS X RESCUES X GIVEAWAYS

We are soooooo ready! In less than three weeks we will be celebrating with an almighty party for the animals. It’s an event not to be missed and the outcome, if successful, will mean tremendous opportunities for helping animals in the coming year. It is of course the SAFE 2008 appeal. You are certainly invited, so we hope to see you there.

The great news is I already know many of you are coming. Over 500 have signed up so far! The more the merrier, and the good thing is we have no shortage of spaces on the street for our trusty SAFE collectors to shake their buckets for the animals of New Zealand. We are expecting some 1200 collectors around the country. I have a feeling it could be a lot more than that, which is very exciting.

For the next three weeks, leading up to the appeal, you will receive weekly SAFE bulletins. Wahoo I hear you say! I know. We thought so too. There is still plenty to organise and so much to communicate that we thought weekly was the one and only way to go.

Even though we are somewhat preoccupied with appeal preparations, we are still actively engaged with other projects. Last week SAFE received news that a major Christchurch department store has agreed to stop stocking the Antworks toy after we expressed concerns about its educational value. Well done Ballantynes, and congratulations Nichola for such a great letter! Another notable achievement is that SAFE is back on the telly this week with another powerful and emotionally charged television advert. The ’They Need You’ advertisement is another in-house production that exposes how animals are suffering in New Zealand. If it is anything like the ’Saving Lucy’ pig advertisement it will trigger a massive response from people who want to help SAFE help animals. Check it out.

In the meantime, it is back to appeal planning and getting ready for the party. See you there with bells on!

COLLECTORS' THOUGHTS
SAFE appeal assistant Shanti Ahiuwalla arrived in New Zealand not knowing anything about SAFE. He shares his experience with collecting.

One of my personal goals for when I arrived in New Zealand was to help animals. More ....
