Volunteers are the public face of SAFE and it is an essential role to spread the message against animal cruelty and welfare issues across New Zealand. Volunteers can assist with and organise stalls, displays, public meetings, protest actions, fundraising events, and actively support SAFE's humane education programme. See at bottom for local contacts.

  

AUCKLAND

 

SAFE at Auckland Uni - a talk and stall
Thursday 17 May
SAFE have been invited to talk at Auckland University as part of Activist Week. SAFE volunteers will be running a stall for the day to mobilise the student population!

Introduction to volunteering with SAFE

An introduction to SAFE, the campaigns and how to get involved. It's an hour and a half session involving a presentation and discussion. Please RSVP to auckland@safe.org.nz

Movie Night- Vegucated
6pm Tuesday 29th May, SAFE office 63 Great North Rd, Grey Lynn, 6pm

Come and join SAFE for a movie and popcorn! Vegucated is an award winning documentary that follows three meat eaters over a six week challenge to follow a strict vegan diet. Discover how their lifestyle changes and if and who continues living the vegan lifestyle once the six weeks is over!

SAFE on Queen St - Postcard signing and talking to the public
Throughout April

While waiting for the imminent release of the new regulations on battery cages, SAFE is raising as much support as possible for the No Cages Campaign, come join us for a couple of hours and invite the public to take action! Please contact auckland@safe.org.nz if you love talking to people and are interested in getting involved speaking up for the animals.

SAFE collections
SAFE are seeking keen volunteers to help with weekly supermarket collections in different parts of Auckland. If you can spare a few hours once a week on a Friday or Saturday we would love to hear from you! Collecting for SAFE is one of the easiest ways you can help animals! So book in an animal outfit, a bucket, choose a day and we'll see you there! Please email siobhan@safe.org.nz to express an interest.

Earlybirds Wanted!! South Auckland Market Stalls
SAFE is now holding regular information stalls at several markets in South Auckland, including Pukekohe, Manurewa and Alfriston so any 'early birds' please contact siobhan@safe.org.nz for dates and more information. Volunteers are needed to help set up the stall, sell merchandise and raise support for the No Cages campaign.

Vegan potluck dinners

HAWKES BAY

SAFE stall at The Better Home & Living Show
25, 26, 27 May, 10am-5pm, Pettigrew Green Arena, Gloucester St, Taradale

SAFE will hold a stall at this eco-friendly event and needs your help! It's a three day event so we'll be needing quite a few volunteers to help. If you can do a shift please email donna444@gmail.com.

Vegan Potlucks
Monthly potlucks are held for Hawkes Bay vegetarians, vegans and friends/supporters - a great opportunity to eat yummy food and meet other local like-minded people! Contact Donna on donna444@gmail.com for more information. All welcome.

WELLINGTON


Marathon in Chicken Costume
8.30am Sunday 25th June, Westpac Stadium
Join SAFE for the 10km walk/run in the Armstrong Motor Group Marathon Wellington, in hen costume! Last year we had around 8 of us walking and running in costume and we'd love to have an even bigger group this year!

SAFE in Action
Throughout April and May

SAFE are continuing to push the NoCages campaign in Wellington and so we are looking for as many people as possible (chicken costume optional!) to collect signatures, for the petition to New World asking them to stop selling caged hen eggs! If you're keen to get involved and get more signatures then please email rachel@safe.org.nz. 

 

CHRISTCHURCH

SAFE Veggie Sausage Sizzle
6-10pm Friday 8th June
