Volunteers are the public face of SAFE and it is an essential role to spread the message against animal cruelty and welfare issues across New Zealand. Volunteers can assist with and organise stalls, displays, public meetings, protest actions, fundraising events, and actively support SAFE's humane education programme
Petition signings and public outreach

Not all it's cracked up to be: Vernon Tava discusses the review of the Animal Welfare Act
Tuesday 4th June, 7.15pm at the Canterbury Horticultural Centre, 57 Riccarton Avenue (upstairs in the PC Browne Room)
The Animal Welfare Act is now under review. Close scrutiny reveals that behind clever wording there are still legal loopholes that will allow for the cruelty of animals to continue. Lawyer and SAFE board member Vernon Tava (LLM) will explain why and how livestock animals can still, legally be treated in ways that would shock most New Zealanders. SAFE Executive Director Hans Kriek will also be in attendance and will explain what SAFE wants to see in the act, why, and what you can do to help.
After Vernon's talk there will also be time for questions. Refreshments will be available. This is expected to be a popular event and there is limited seating at the venue so please email email@example.com to reserve your place. A gold coin donation appreciated.
Saturday June 22nd, From 9am, Canterbury Horticultural Centre, 57 Riccarton Avenue (Hagley Park), Downstairs in the Watling Lounge
