Despite driving rain SAFE was out in force last weekend demonstrating outside the Loritz Circus in Mangere on behalf of Jumbo, the circus elephant. SAFE campaigners from Auckland were undeterred from highlighting the plight of Jumbo to passing motorists and those attending the circus. “At least one person changed their mind about attending the show once they found out what life is like for Jumbo,” says campaign officer Eliot Pryor.
The Loritz Circus will be in Manurewa from the 20th of August. SAFE plans to stage protests outside the circus on the 23rd. “If you share our concerns about the plight of Jumbo and want to do something about it, please consider joining us,” says Eliot.
“We still need people to keep an eye out for circus promotional posters and to help put up SAFE’s anti-circus posters,” says Eliot. For more info visit the Free Jumbo Campaign. 18 August 2008
