SAFE APPEAL HERALDS SUCCESS |
SAFE's 1000-strong menagerie of dedicated collectors should feel proud for making our latest appeal such a success. They collectively helped increase SAFE's profile and raised over $100,000 more in funds than the previous year, helping us achieve a total of $265,000. That makes 2006 the best year yet! If you're one of those collectors we thank you. You will be receiving a small package in the post in the next few weeks as our way of saying thanks.
The funds raised cements SAFE's position within New Zealand even further and enables our team to campaign without the added pressures of a lack of sufficient finances. Appeal coordinator Sacha Dowell and her assistant Francie Mountier were awesome in their roles of coordinating dozens of volunteer coordinators in over 28 different locations around New Zealand. So many other people also worked extremely hard, often working 12-18 hour days for days on end. Champions! From the top to the bottom of the country collectors were fantastic. Reports of some smaller towns having 50 volunteer collectors out on the streets was brilliant news. New Zealanders gave their support to SAFE through donations to help animals! SAFE appeal spokesperson Hans Kriek says New Zealanders gave generously and wholeheartedly to SAFE. "Caring kiwis donated over $265,000 to help abused animals in New Zealand. SAFE will also be able to step up its campaign against the factory farming of pigs," says Hans. 03 January 2007
