Campaign officer Sacha Dowell reports on some of the things our wonderful SAFE volunteer groups around the country have been getting up to lately... • Nelson SAFE held a stall at the Festival Of Opportunities in late February to raise awareness of animal rights issues and to sell merchandise. Our ‘Love Pigs not Pork' bags were popular as always and many vegetarian recipe booklets were handed out. A SAFE promotional video dubbed to a Moby soundtrack attracted a lot of interest. Soyworks kindly sponsored the stall. • In Hamilton our awesome volunteers organised a stall at the Women's Lifestyle Expo to promote the LovePigs campaign. Hundreds of ‘Love Pigs not Pork' bags were sold along with tickets for a fundraising raffle. • Our organiser in the Far North ran a stall at a Kerikeri fair and reported there was plenty of interest in the pig campaign and that almost $200 was raised in merchandise sales and donations. • Whangarei SAFE attracted an amazing 24 people to a pot-luck vegan lunch and recruited some new people to help with SAFE campaign activities. A big thanks to all our volunteers out there doing SAFE activities! If you are interested in being involved in SAFE activities in your area please email your local organiser or email sacha@safe.org.nz if there is no SAFE group in your area.
