Role 1: Head of Supporter Engagement

Are you an experienced fundraiser who’s passionate about making a difference for animals? If so, come join us for a unique opportunity!
 
SAFE (Save Animals From Exploitation) is New Zealand's leading animal advocacy organisation. With the support of tens of thousands of caring Kiwis and a group of dedicated staff, SAFE makes significant improvements to the lives of animals by raising awareness, challenging cruel practices, changing attitudes and fostering compassion so that they are no longer exploited or abused by humans. We are looking for that special someone to strengthen our fundraising strategies, and develop and implement a programme of supporter engagement.
 
This is a permanent position (35-40h) based in Wellington, Auckland or Christchurch.  Reporting to the CEO, you will be primarily focused on managing SAFE’s national fundraising and supporter communications activities in conjunction with the SMT, the Board, and your team of 4 direct reports.

 

You will definitely have:

  • A passion for our purpose: to work towards a world where animals are understood and respected in such a way that they are no longer exploited, abused or made to suffer.

You will be:

  • Vegan
  • And have knowledge and a genuine interest in animal welfare and rights.

And we’d also like to see:

  • A minimum of five years fundraising experience, including at least 2 years in a senior fundraising position.
  • Proven success in meeting fundraising targets, with the ability to identify income generating opportunities at both a national and local level.
  • A demonstrable commitment to relationship fundraising and excellent donor care.
  • Experience in leading an organisation's fundraising activities.
  • Experience working with budgets, and using statistical data.
  • Experience of leading and motivating teams.
  • That you can manage relationships with funders and community groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, flexibility, and a ‘We Can Do This!” approach.

Role 2: Supporter and Volunteer Engagement Assistant

Do you have experience of working with volunteers, and in office administration?  Are you passionate about making a difference for animals?  If so, come join us!

With the support of tens of thousands of caring Kiwis and a group of dedicated staff, SAFE makes significant improvements to the lives of animals by raising awareness, challenging cruel practices, changing attitudes and fostering compassion so that they are no longer exploited or abused by humans.  Watch us in action.
 
We are looking for someone with great people skills who can strengthen and expand our Wellington volunteer network, together with assisting the team with our programme of supporter engagement.
 
Reporting to our Head of Supporter Engagement, this is a permanent position (32hours a week) based in our Wellington office.
 

You will definitely have:

  • A passion for our purpose: to work towards a world where animals are understood and respected in such a way that they are no longer exploited, abused or made to suffer.
  • Great oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to manage your time and prioritise your work.
  • Attention to detail.

And we'd also like to see:

  • Experience of working with Volunteers.
  • At least 2 years experience in an Office Administration role.
  • Robust computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and databases.

It would be great if:

  • You have used Blackbaud The Raiser’s Edge (but don’t worry, we can train you).

You will be:

  • Vegan
