  • A multidisciplinary resource that has been designed by New Zealanders for New Zealanders.

  • Lesson plans that can be used either individually for a one-off lesson, or together to create a unit of study on a specific animal-related theme.

Animals & Us has been peer reviewed and created in consultation with experts in the fields of animal advocacy and education.

The New Zealand Curriculum specifies five key competencies to be developed by all students, these are:

  • Managing self

  • Relating to others

  • Participating and contributing

  • Thinking

  • Using language, symbols, and texts

Animals & Us will help students develop competencies in many of these categories. The New Zealand Curriculum Framework outlines other important groups of skills that will be covered within the five main categories, in particular valuing skills, which are an important component of the Animals & Us vision.
