Join Miriama Smith & try vegan this January

January 8th, 2018

There are heaps of reasons to eat kind this January.  Not only is it the best way to help animals, it can also improve your  personal health and protect our environment. And you won’t be alone,  Miriama Smith is just one of hundreds of Kiwis who are giving vegan a  try this January by taking our Challenge.

Miriama Smith, Kiwi film and television actress is trying vegan this January. The 800 Words and former Filthy Rich star says she’s using Veganuary to explore veganism and is really  interested in making a better lifestyle choice for our environment.  She’s excited to “push the envelope, discover meat alternatives and  recipes, and explore the health benefits.”

Plus, some of the best restaurants across the country are participating in Veganuary and have committed to making great vegan options available all month.  Just look for the official EAT KIND sticker on the storefront or check  out the list below to find a participating restaurant near you.

To recognise restaurants that go above and beyond, we’re also running a People’s Choice Award for Best Dish. Some of the country’s top food critics will be reviewing dishes and you’re invited to submit your favourites by posting a picture of the drool worthy dishes they’ve been eating at  participating restaurants on Instagram using the hashtag #veganuaryNZ.

A worldwide movement, Veganuary has been inspiring plant-based eating  everywhere. All around the globe and right here in New Zealand, people  are recognising that the simple choice of what they put on their plate  makes a big difference and they are putting their values into action.

Not only is it better for animals, removing animal products from our  diets reduces greenhouse gas emissions and pollution from animal  agriculture, and it can even improve our health.

Like Miriama Smith, thousands of Kiwis from around the country have  pledged to change their habits to create a kinder world for animals.  Veganuary is the perfect opportunity to stand up for fairness, kindness  and compassion. Sign up for our Challenge today and receive six weeks of supportive emails filled with tips, recipes, advice on nutrition and eating out.
