Denny’s New Zealand publishes cage-free egg commitment
July 8th, 2019SAFE is thrilled to announce Denny’s, an all-day breakfast dining chain, will be serving its Kiwi customers 100% cage-free eggs by no later than December 2024.
The cage-free policy was produced just three days after SAFE’s public cage-free campaign focusing on Denny’s was launched.
“After discussions with Denny’s leadership, we were happy to learn that several of Denny’s NZ locations were already moving towards using only cage-free eggs,” says SAFE’s Corporate Campaigns Coordinator, Jessica Chambers. “We are more than confident in Denny’s NZ’s ability to meet its 2024 cage-free goal.”
The public campaign focusing on Denny’s went public after SAFE became aware of the fact that Denny’s New Zealand had not produced a cage-free egg commitment, despite the brand making cage-free policies in the USA and Canada.
“SAFE will be paying very close attention to businesses that do not reflect overseas cage-free policies here in New Zealand,” says Miss Chambers. “Kiwis care about animal welfare and certainly don’t appreciate being ignored by businesses which choose to leave New Zealand out of important animal welfare commitments.”
