Nando’s NZ becomes latest restaurant chain to commit to cage-free eggs
July 10th, 2019SAFE is delighted to announce that Nando’s now has a cage-free egg policy across all of its New Zealand locations.
In 2018, Nando’s in Australia released a 100% cage-free egg policy for over 240 locations, and now all 29 restaurants here in New Zealand follow the same policy.
“This cage-free policy from Nando’s follows closely behind the cage-free commitment made by Denny’s just this week. There is a clear expectation on companies in New Zealand to have a cage-free policy and it’s fantastic to see that almost all major restaurant chains in New Zealand have now made this move,” says SAFE Corporate Campaigns Coordinator Jessica Chambers.
Cage-free is now the new normal in NZ, with all major supermarkets, and the vast majority of restaurant chains, café chains, hotel chains, foodservice companies and manufacture brands releasing cage-free policies over the last few years.
“With over 70 major brands in NZ now committed to cage-free, we are well and truly on track to ensuring that one day no more hens will be kept in cages in NZ,” says Ms Chambers.
