Millions of chicks are sent offshore each year. OPINION: Late last year, a power cut and system failure killed nearly 200,000 chickens at a farm in Helensville. The fate of these chickens shocked and horrified many, and prompted the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) to investigate following media coverage.
