Our work is focused on the future we want to create. We are driven by our passion to deliver results for animals. They inspire us with their complexity of feeling, their tenacity to survive. Our work urges others, not just to feel, but to join us as we lead change for animals in Aotearoa.
Ko tō mātou remurere tērā kei te ārahi i a mātou kia puta he painga mō ngā kararehe. Hihiri kau ana mātou i ngā kararehe i runga anō i ōna kare-ā-roto matatini, me tōna manawatoa kia rite tonu te puta o ihu. Mā tā mātou mahi e whakahauhau ētahi atu, kia rongo, ka mutu, kia whakapiri tahi mai rātou ki tā mātou taki haere i te ara o panoni mō ngā kararehe i Aotearoa.
We are accountable to our supporters, the public — and especially, to the animals we speak on behalf of. We are ethical in all things, and respectful. We say what we mean. We are a trusted, credible source of information. We value our reputation and protect it by standing behind our work and acting with virtue.
He pono tā mātou kupu. He hunga mātou e whakaponotia ana, ā, he mana ā mātou kōrero pārongo. E tino maimoatia ana tērā mana nō mātou, waihoki, ka tiaki rawa mā te ū ki tā mātou kaupapa, i roto i te wairua ngākaupai.
Adaptable yet steadfast. Strategic and agile. We plan for success yet pivot and respond when we must to ensure we follow the most effective course. We focus on upstream approaches. We draw on the wisdom of leaders in our movement and research to develop deliberate, proactive, thoughtful ways to deliver on our mission.
He wairua urutau, he toka tū moana. He aronga rauhanga, he waewae moruki. Maheretia ai e mātou te ara kia angitu ai, waihoki, ngāwari noa te kauhuri me te whai kātoitoi mena koirā kē te ara whai hua. Tōtō mai ai ko ngā mōhiohio o te hunga ārahi i tēnei kaupapa, otirā, ko te rangahau kia āta whanake mai ai he ara tōmua, he ara i āta wānangatia, kia ea ai tā mātou e āta whai nei.
Our work comes from a place of empathy. We respect life and act with compassion. We believe that others should be treated with warmth, gentleness and goodwill — and that consideration extends beyond the human species. We are driven by a call for justice that is inclusive to all. Together with our supporters, we put ourselves in the feet, hooves, paws, trotters, fins of others.
History favours the bold. To sustain the transformational change we are striving for, we bring new ideas, imagination and creativity to our work. We aren’t afraid to try new things — to stand out. We are pioneers. We embrace the unfamiliar, unprecedented, ultra-modern. Together we are blazing a new trail. Our radical approaches disrupt the status quo and question the structures that enable them.
E ū tonu ai ko ngā hurihanga huarau e āta whaitia ana, me rerekē ngā whakaaro, te pohewa me te
auaha, i ā mātou mahi. Kāore mātou e mata ku i ngā mea hou – e tū motuhake ai mātou. He hunga para ara hou mātou. He hunga whai ara manene, whai tauira hou, whai tikanga hurihuri.
We draw strength from our values and are steadfast. We often travel the road less taken. We bear witness to suffering and will hold those responsible to account. We work with determination and resolve. Our bravery is on display when we make a point of difference, when we expose suffering, when we stand in the minority for animals. We will not be shaken — we are on the right side of history.
Tōtō mai ai ko te kaha i ō mātou uara, ā mau tonu. Arā noa atu ngā ara e takahi takitahi ana mātou. Whakamau atu ai tō mātou titiro ki ngā whakataumahatanga, kia ahatia, kia whakahaepapatia ai tērā hunga nā rātou i taumaha ai. Ko te hiringa i te mahara tērā. E kai ngā mata o te motu ki tō mātou wairua mātātoa ka whai ana i te ara panoni, ka hura ana i ngā whakataumahatanga, ka tū ana mō te hunga whakahauiti, arā, ko ngā kararehe. E kore mātou e riro waewae tūtuki noa – he take rangatira ka mau, ā-haere nei.
Our movement was born of the sweat and tears of other social justice movements before. We build on their hard-won gains. Today we stand in solidarity with others in our community to bring about equality for all. Our movement is much bigger than us. We welcome new people and ideas. Hand-in-hand, we tirelessly work to protect the rights of animals. We belong — to each other and our world.
I whānau mai tā mātou kaupapa i te tōtā me te roimata i heke mai ai i ngā kaupapa manatika ā-hapori o mua atu. Ka whanake atu nei mātou i runga i ā rātou hua nā te heke toto i puta mai ai. Ā-mohoa nei, e tū kotahi atu nei mātou ki a rātou mā nō te hapori, kia puta mai ai ko te mana tauritetanga ki a tātou katoa. Nui noa ake tā mātou kaupapa i a mātou. E pōhiritia atu nei ki te
hunga hou me ō rātou whakaaro. Whai whakapapa atu ai tātou ki a tātou anō, me te ao whānui hoki.
