Garage sales, raffles, markets and BBQs are iconic Kiwi weekend events, so why not organise one for your favourite charity? Gather clothing, furniture, collectables and other desirable items and set up shop in your garage.
Consider fundraising for us! SAFE receives no government funding and is entirely reliant on the generosity of caring people like you to carry out our work.
There are several different ways you can get involved. From taking on a physical challenge to organising a vegan bake sale – it can be as easy or challenging as you want to make it!

If you love baking – you could whip up a whole lot of vegan cakes, biscuits and cupcakes and sell them for a couple of dollars each. Get your family and friends to help and you will have a lot of fun raising much-needed funds for animals!
Like pushing your boundaries? Trying to get in shape? How about participating in a running, cycling, swimming or triathlon event? You may even want to dress up as an animal! Get your friends and family to sponsor you – and don’t forget to take lots of photos! You could also organise your own challenge like climbing a mountain or walking from Cape Reinga to Bluff - the sky’s the limit! Let us know your plans and we’ll support you all the way!
If you are more of a social butterfly, then this option may be for you! To involve all your friends and family in raising funds for your favourite charity, you could organise a disco, fashion show, dinner party or vegan cookery class and ask for small donations. You may want to organise a mufti day at work, make a veg lunch for your colleagues, or even arrange a fancy dress day at the office! You can make it as fun, quirky or out-there as you wish, making sure that the animals’ message is heard loud and clear.
For your special day – such as your birthday or wedding – or for Christmas, you could ask friends and family to support your favourite charity rather than giving presents.
Once you have decided what you would like to do, you can start your very own fundraising page at Everydayhero. Just sign up and start creating your page, then add some photos to make it more personal. Remember to share your fundraising page on Facebook!
