2018 Eat Kind Awards presented!
November 1st, 2018SAFE mark World Vegan Day by acknowledging four eateries across the country for their outstanding vegan cuisine. The 2018 EAT KIND Awards were presented to:
The Butcher’s Son – North Island
Kaiaroha – Newcomer
Sweet Release – Themed Cuisine
Portershed – South Island
Now in its second year, SAFE’s EAT KIND Awards recognise culinary excellence across New Zealand and the array of ever-expanding, exceptional vegan options on offer.
The owner of Portershed Specialty Cafe, Emma Wood says we’re so chuffed to be a part of and be able to support those at the coal face of this revolution.
“The demand for kindness is growing, kindness to everyone we share the planet with, ourselves and the earth we stand on. If we can tread gently and with thought, we can only continue to grow. There is no more denying it, we must be kind to move forward.”
Kiwis are beginning to realise the significant impact we as individuals can have through the food choices we make. Deemed the biggest trend in 2018 by The New Zealand Restaurant Association: sustainable, plant-based options are sprouting up on restaurant menus all over the countryside. With animal-friendly options including the likes of cauliflower steaks, coconut bacon BLTs, jackfruit pies and raw caramel slice eating kind is easier than ever.
SAFE is delighted to commend the establishments who are going above and beyond to show our nation how incredibly delicious vegan dining is.
Eating for a kinder world for animals, for healthier Kiwis, and for doing our part to combat climate change: there has never been a more significant time to make the most of all that plant-rich meals have to offer. SAFE challenges the establishments around the country that are currently falling behind to join the vegolution!
