YOUR campaign to set hens free

It started with a Facebook post, and it ended with victory for caring New Zealanders and 400,000 hens.

The writing really is on the wall for the cage egg industry now  Countdown has become the first New Zealand supermarket, and first major  retailer, to join the global revolution to free hens from cages,  announcing they will phase out cage eggs from their stores nationwide.  The commitment is part of an international shift and marks the beginning  of the end for ALL cage hen cruelty in New Zealand, and it’s thanks to  caring people like you.
